SULAIMANI, Kurdistan Region – Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, also the second deputy leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), met with Bafel Talabani, President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), on Sunday to discuss the formation of the 10th KRG Cabinet.
The two leaders emphasized the importance of establishing a strong, united, and effective government as soon as possible. They expressed a positive outlook following their discussions, highlighting the progress made in aligning on key strategic goals for the Kurdistan Region.
Following their meeting, Talabani said the meeting was very positive, and they agreed on a number of “strategic points” that are beneficial for the nation.
“Our discussions will continue, with the goal of forming a government that serves the people of Kurdistan as quickly as possible.”
Prime Minister Barzani also reflected on the meeting, stating the two recent meetings between them had been positive and productive meetings to address important issues for the people of Kurdistan.
“We have made significant progress and hope that both sides will reach a full agreement soon to ensure that the people of Kurdistan benefit from the ongoing talks.”
The meetings mark a crucial step towards forming a new government, nearly five months after the elections.
