President Barzani commends Kurdistan Region’s progress in resolving issues with Baghdad

SULAIMANI, Kurdistan Region — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani stated during a climate change conference in Erbil that the Region has made significant strides in addressing issues with Baghdad.

President Barzani also urged the Iraqi government to provide the Region with its rights.

President Barzani emphasized the necessity for the central government to assist the Kurdistan Region in constructing dams and reservoirs as part of climate change mitigation efforts in the region.

He stated that climate change is adversely affecting both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, leading to the displacement of 130,000 individuals.

Concerning the parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan Region, which have been delayed several times, when asked about the timing of the elections, President Barzani responded that they would “announce it soon.”
