SULAIMANI, Kurdistan Region – The Iranian Human Rights Organization (IHRNGO) warns that at least 100 Iranian protesters face execution and the death penalty by the Revolutionary Courts.
The Iranian regime executed protesters Mohammad Mahdi Karami and Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini on Saturday. They were previously sentenced to death for allegedly killing a member of the IRGC’s Basij militia during an anti-government protest in Karaj.

In addition, the IHRNGO warns of the execution of many protesters in the coming weeks, “if this is not met with an appropriate response.”
The execution brought international condemnation, as it was viewed as a violation of human rights used by Iran to quell protests. The IHRNGO, however, calls on the international community to respond to Iran’s execution with a “strong response.”
The UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly condemned the “abhorrent” executions of Karami and Hosseini, saying that the UK strongly opposes the death penalty “in all circumstances.”
“Iran must immediately end the violence against its own people,” Cleverly tweeted.

The European Union said in a statement on Saturday it was “appalled” after Iran executed Karami and Hosseini for allegedly killing a member of the security forces during a protest, adding that it was a further sign of the “Iranian authorities’ violent repression of civilian demonstrations.”
“The European Union calls once again on the Iranian authorities to immediately end the strongly condemnable practice of imposing and carrying out death sentences against protesters,” the statement added.
Iran has so far executed four people since the beginning of the nationwide protests in mid-September.
Recent anti-government protests sparked by the death of Mahsa Amini, 22, in police custody, led to the arrest of tens of thousands of protesters by security forces.
According to a report by IHRNGO, a total of 476 people including 64 children and 34 women, have been killed by security forces in the recent nationwide protests.
