SULAIMANI, Kurdistan Region — Iran’s Revolutionary Court in Sanandaj on Sunday sentenced four Kurdish teachers to five years in prison on charges of “attempting to undermine national security,” according to Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.
Teachers Kaveh Mohammadzadeh, Omid Shahmohamadi, Parviz Ahsani and Hiwa Ghoraishi are members of the Divandarreh branch of Teachers’ Professional Council in Iran’s Kurdistan province.

Almost 80 days after their arrest during anti-government protests in Divandarreh, each of them is sentenced to five years in prison for “attempts to undermine national security” and ties to PJAK, the Iranian wing of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
According to Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, the four teachers were arrested by Iran’s IRGC Intelligence Organization at their homes.
Iran Human Rights Organization reports that since the start of nationwide protests, Iranian security forces have killed 470 people. Among them, 32 are women, 63 are children.
As of now, two anti-government protesters have been executed by the Iranian regime since September, and 43 others are in danger of being executed.
