SULAIMANI, Kurdistan Region — The Ministry of Migration and Displaced in Iraq is intensifying efforts to close displacement camps in the Kurdistan Region, according to Deputy Minister Karim Nouri.
Speaking to semi-official al-Sabah newspaper, Nouri emphasized the ministry’s commitment to facilitating the return of internally displaced persons (IDPs), particularly Yazidis, to their homes in Sinjar.
Nouri highlighted ongoing cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) to expedite camp closures, stating that winter preparations have been made for those remaining in camps and those who have returned to their areas of origin.
While camps in Sulaimani province have already been closed, Erbil and Duhok provinces continue to host camps, primarily accommodating Yazidi families.
