SULAIMANI, Kurdistan Region — The US Central Command (CENTCOM) and Iraqi security forces carried out a joint raid in western Iraq early on August 29, resulting in the killing of 15 ISIS operatives.
According to a statement form CENTCOM, the ISIS militants were armed with weapons, grenades, and explosive suicide belts. No civilian casualties were reported.
“This operation targeted ISIS leaders to disrupt and degrade ISIS’ ability to plan, organize, and conduct attacks against Iraqi civilians, as well as U.S. citizens, allies, and partners throughout the region and beyond,” reads the statement.
CENTCOM reaffirmed its commitment to combating ISIS, emphasizing the group’s ongoing threat to the region and beyond.
