SULAIMANI, Kurdistan Region – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated his country’s steadfast support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region during his official visit to Baghdad and Erbil, as stated by the Kurdistan Region’s Presidency.
After his visit to Baghdad, President Erdogan arrived in Erbil where he was greeted by President Nechirvan Barzani of the Kurdistan Region and Prime Minister Masrour Barzani. Subsequently, he met with Masoud Barzani, the leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
“The focus was on Türkiye’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, particularly in the economic and trade sectors. Security measures were also a topic of discussion,” as stated by the KRI Presidency.
During the meeting, President Nechirvan Barzani conveyed the Kurdistan Region’s fervent aspiration to bolster relations with Turkey across various domains.
He underscored that the Kurdistan Region has consistently served as a bastion of peace and stability in the region, expressing gratitude to Turkey for its support during “challenging times.”
The statement further highlights President Erdogan’s expression of Turkey’s readiness to collaborate and enhance relations across various domains. Additionally, President Erdogan underscored the significance of upholding peace, and stability and addressing regional issues while safeguarding the rights of all communities.
